Operating Room Pharmacy Satellite: The responsibilities of the UWMC OR pharmacy satellite include drug product preparation and storage, compounding of intravenous admixture solutions, and preparation of specific medications for individual surgery cases. The OR pharmacist provides medication discharge counseling for all day-surgery patients and is available for medication screening and identification for patients seen in the pre-surgery clinic. Additionally, the pharmacist serves as a resource for drug information and clinical consultation, as well as providing assistance in drug inventory control and drug utilization evaluation.
