- UWMC Surgery Pavillion:
A full-time pharmacist operates the pharmacy within the new Surgery Pavilion which opened in November 2003. The Surgery Pavilion houses eleven operating rooms with pre- and post-surgery observation and surgical short-stay areas (to be opened), as well as a number of ambulatory clinics including the Neurological Surgery Clinic, Urology Clinic, Prostate Center, Women's Urology/Urogynecology Clinic, Pre-anesthesia Clinic, Surgical Specialties Clinic, and Digestive Disease Center. Pharmacy services include operating room services such as case set ups, anesthesia trays, compounding intravenous admixtures, controlled substance management, inventory control, Pyxis management, and billing and revenue cycle management. Post-operative services include ambulatory pharmacy services such as filling discharge medications, patient and family education, and online adjudication and payment. The pharmacist also provides ambulatory clinic services which are integrated with existing inpatient and outpatient services to include replenishing clinic stock medications, Pyxis management, compounding admixtures of patient-specific clinic-administered medications, and medication unit inspections.
