UW Medicine PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency

Program Description

The Residency in Pharmacy Practice (PGY1) at the University of Washington is a ASHP-accredited post-graduate program, which provides twelve months of training in all aspects of advanced pharmacy practice: acute patient care, ambulatory patient care, drug information, drug policy development, and practice management. The program offers flexibility which allows the residency to be tailored to the specific needs of the individual. The goal of the program is to provide specific skills and competencies to the resident that are needed to assume leadership roles within the profession. Upon completion of the PGY1 program, residents are equipped to succeed in a variety of positions, including clinical pharmacy specialists, clinical faculty, or continuation of postgraduate training in a PGY2 program or fellowship.

UW Medicine (Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and University of Washington Medical Center) are comprehensive healthcare teaching facilities and serve as the primary sites for the residency. The residents integrated service commitment will be at either the University of Washington Medical Center or Harborview Medical Center. Rotations may be at any of the facilities.
