PGY2 Ambulatory Care
Program Goals
- Develop effective patient care skills and manage patients of differing cultures and beliefs with empathy.
- Demonstrate effective patient / provider communication.
- Evaluate literature critically and develop skills promoting rational medication use in primary care.
- Develop a collaborative primary care practice and become an integral member of the medical team.
- Demonstrate proficient teaching (didactic and small groups) and precepting skills.
Requirements
- Develop a clinical service or research project designed to improve primary care services in the Department of Pharmacy Services.
- Prepare and present a poster presentation at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting.
- Present the results of the clinical service or research project at the Western States Conference for Pharmacy Residents and Preceptors.
- Submit a project for publication in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Prepare and present ambulatory-related drug monographs for the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee.
- Participate in teaching activities of the medical center and school of pharmacy.
- Have an integrated service commitment of 32 hours per month.
- Participate in residents' meetings.
Qualifications of the Applicant
Selected applicants will be required to visit the University of Washington for an on-site interview. The applicant must meet the following general requirements:
- Pharm.D. Degree from an ACPE-accredited College or School of Pharmacy.
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency or equivalent experience.
- Must be eligible for licensure in the State of Washington.
- Appointment to this residency program is contingent upon eligibility for employment according to the Federal Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, which requires employers to certify eligibility of employees not born in the United States.
Resident Stipend
Approximately $51,300 annually.

Holidays
Residents will have five paid holidays that they will not be scheduled to work. Recognized holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, President's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Veterans' Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
