PGY2 Ambulatory Care

Program structure

The primary training site for this PGY2 Ambulatory care experience will take place at Harborview Medical Center, a comprehensive healthcare teaching facility.  The resident will determine the “home” clinic site and select from either the Adult Medicine clinic or Family Medicine clinic. Both clinics are medical residency training sites and involved with the education of the medical residents, providers, attendings and pharmacy students.

The academic elective is available for those interested in pursuing a clinical faculty career.  The resident will spend 1-1.5days/week at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy.  The resident will be an Instructor for the Pharmacotherapeutics Lab each week for the academic year, in addition to providing didactic lectures and leading small group discussions throughout the year.

The resident's integrated service commitment will take place at Harborview Medical Center. The 32 hours/month integrated service commitment will include:

  • Pharmacy attending at the weekly Medical Student clinic on Tuesday evenings (16 hours / month).
  • Pharmacy staffing 8 hours / month on a Saturday
  • Pharmacy refill authorization at the main pharmacy 8 hours / month (flexible)
